Community Garden

WVCC Community Garden Program

The Community Garden program is a collaborative effort between the West Valley Community Campus and local residents aimed at providing access to fresh produce, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering a sense of community among participants. The program is open to individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds and provides access to garden plots, tools, water, and resources necessary for gardening.

Participants are required to attend an orientation session where they learn about the rules and regulations of the program, including plot maintenance responsibilities and behavior expectations. Once registered, participants can choose from a variety of plot sizes and locations and are encouraged to collaborate with other participants to share resources and expertise.

Throughout the growing season, participants are invited to attend regular meetings and work days to discuss garden-related topics, troubleshoot issues, and learn from each other. The program also hosts educational workshops on topics such as composting, pest management, and water conservation to help participants grow healthy and productive gardens.

At the end of the season, participants are invited to share their harvest with the community through a harvest celebration and potluck.
